And we're back!!!

After a long blogspot hiatus, the Weiss family has made it back to the blogosphere. We have been a busy bunch and here are a few highlights of the past year (imagine you are reading one of those awesome family christmas letters...)

Summer 2010 - We moved from Milwaukee to our new home in Boise, Idaho. Ann, Emily and Barbara took a plane while Aaron and Bart did a indulgent cross-country trek in Aaron's truck with stops at the world-famous corn palace, Wall drug, Mount Rushmore and Yellowstone park. Grandma Keidel had been caring for the house since we bought it in April and did a wonderful job getting it move-in ready. Thank you Lora! And thanks to Allied for being 2 weeks late with our stuff!!!

We both had about a month without work which was wonderful and weird at the same time. Lots of home repair, fun in in the sun and exploring our new town kept us busy. We also enjoyed playing in our new in-ground mini-pool/giant hot tub with Emily, who couldn't get enough pool time.

Fall 2010 - Emily started a new daycare and we quickly adjusted to our new work schedules. Ann and I even got in an October trip to San Francisco for a great pediatric conference and some time to site-see with Ann's brother. Halloween was fun this year as we had a big block party and Emily went as a disgruntled/misunderstood toddler who did not want to wear her costume. She did enjoy the candy however.

Winter 2010/2011 - We celebrated Emily's 2nd birthday with a mickey-mouse themed party at Grandma and Grandpa Keidel's house. Her big birthday present this year was a play kitchen that has been a lot of fun since. Christmas came and went. Aaron did manage to convince Ann they needed a 9-foot live evergreen since they were able to get a coupon for $25 a tree at a local tree lot. To get the tree out once the holidays were over, Aaron had to saw the tree into 4 separate piecees! We are still finding needles to this day.

Spring 2011 - There were lots of big changes this spring for the Weiss household. Ann found out she was pregnant in February and due in September with a baby boy. We are still working on names and are trying to prepare Emily for the new addition. Ann also changed from ER to a more regular-hour urgent care position and has enjoyed her new shift schedule greatly. We made a trek down to Logan, Utah to visit Gma and Pa Weiss. Emily had a wonderful time even though snowed most of it in mid-April. She was shown off to all the neighbors and friends.

Summer 2011 - After dealing with a broken A/C, broken window and crawlspace water intrusion, we are finally slowing down on the home repair and enjoying the house and yard. We have had many grill-outs on Aaron's natural gas monster grill but are still working on getting the pool ready for summer. We have had lots of visits from Laura and Aaron's parents as well as Mary, Tom and Ann's parents which have been fun.

Coming Soon - We are looking forward to a summer of baby preparation which will include a baby shower in July (more details soon), getting Emily upstairs to her new room, getting Emily fully potty trained (mainly so she can use the swimming pool at daycare!) and keeping Ann cool and off her feet!

We will be posting many more pictures from the last year and trying to post a bit more often than once per year, so stay tuned!

Happy Easter 2010

We hope everyone had a great day. Both Ann and I were off so it was nice to just be home and play with Miss Emily. Enjoy a few videos of our adventures yesterday!

Post-holiday Update!

Happy Post-Holidays Everybody! We had a great holiday here in Milwaukee with the entire Weiss clan visiting from Utah and Montana. It was a pretty low-key affair - lots of hanging out
and eating lots of tasty food.

Emily is continuing to be her energetic and unique self. She turned 13 months old about a week ago - boy the time really flies. We will post some pictures of her 1st birthday shortly as it was a great celebration in Boise with the Keidel crew. It was just a year ago that she was a little peanut who didn't do much more than sleep, eat, and poop. She still does all those things quite well but is now cruising, feeding herself, drinking from a cup, saying "mama, dada, baba" and many other sounds we can't quite make out. She has taken a few steps but hasn't quite got the walking thing down yet. I think she just likes being carried everywhere.

On another exciting note (for those that haven't heard), Aaron got a great job in Boise, Idaho starting this summer. He will be working at Treasure Valley Pediatrics as a general pediatrician. He is really looking forward to the opportunity and all of us are very excited about the big move.
